10 Ways to Care for Your Mental Health (World Mental Health Day)

Every October 10th, the world comes together for World Mental Health Day — a day to raise awareness, offer compassion, and remind ourselves that mental well-being is a lifelong journey. At From Phoenix, we believe in slowing down, tuning in, and creating spaces that help you reconnect with yourself and your community.

Here are 10 simple, yet powerful ways to prioritize your mental health — from mindful rituals and journaling to community connection and intentional rest.

  1. Start your day mindfully. Take a few deep breaths before you scroll. Journal one intention for the day. (Our “Mind Your Mood” Journal makes this easy.

  2. Check-In in with your emotions. Use an emotional wheel or mood tracker to identify how you really feel. (You can download our FREE “Wellness Check-In for this!)

  3. Create soothing routines. Light your favorite candle, sip tea, stretch. Small acts of self-care can re-center you. (Try one of our candles to help ground and calm you.)

  4. Move your body with kindness. It doesn’t have to be a hard workout— a walk, gentle yoga, or dancing in your kitchen counts.

  5. Nourish your mind. Listen to a wellness podcast, read an uplifting book, or take a screen break to breathe and reset.

  6. Connect intentionally. Call a friend. Send a kind message. Host a wellness night. Community is medicine.

  7. Set boundaries. Protect your peace. Saying “no” is an act of self-respect and self-preservation, not selfishness.

  8. Celebrate small wins. Pause and reflect how far you’ve come. Gratitude amplifies joy.

  9. Seek support when needed. Therapy, journaling, or faith-based practices— healing looks different for everyone and that’s okay.

  10. Rest, reset, and recharge. Give yourself permission to just be. Rest is productive.

To help you reflect deeper this season, we created a FREE “ Wellness Check-In — a simple guide to help you identify your emotions, nurture each dimension of wellness, and set meaningful intentions.
